Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has added another electrified vehicle to its lineup with the introduction of the All-New Toyota Yaris Cross. The new model was launched simultaneously in BGC and in Toyota’s 72 dealerships nationwide on August 4, 2023. With its attractive price point, Toyota is offering its most affordable electrified vehicle as the gateway for more customers to strive for carbon neutrality.
TMP President Atsuhiro Okamoto said Toyota hopes to bring the electrified lifestyle even closer to more Filipinos. “In Toyota, we believe in a multiple pathway approach to achieve carbon neutrality. One of the ways we are empowering you, our customers, to help build a sustainable future is through electrified vehicles,” said Okamoto. “The way to maximize the environmental benefits of electrified vehicles is through widespread adoption. That is why we offer the widest range of Hybrid Electric Vehicles or HEVs, in the market,” he added.

The new 5-seater crossover is quite a looker with its sleek and dynamic design, metallic exterior colorways, black interior with blue accents, and advanced dashboard features.
The front grille of the Yaris Cross features a large trapezoid design, while its rear displays a compact back door and geometric rear lights. Exclusive to the HEV variant is a panoramic moonroof that accentuates its premium styling, and it also sports Toyota’s new HEV badge that is proudly displayed in its front fender. Both HEV and Gasoline variants sport LED headlamps, daytime running lamps, fog lamps, and slim combination tail lights.

Inside the cabin, a blue accent crosses the span of the dash and matches the stitching on the synthetic leather seats. It has a 7-inch TFT multi-information display as well as a 10.1-inch main display with wireless Apple Carplay, Android Auto, Bluetooth connectivity, and a voice command function. Six speakers are standard across all trims, with the HEV variant getting a Pioneer system upgrade.
Other convenience features include electric power steering, keyless entry, push-start ignition, drive mode select, a wireless charging dock, a panoramic view monitor, rear USB Type C ports, and a power tailgate for the top variants.

Under the hood, the All-New Yaris Cross is powered by a 4-cylinder, in-line, 16-valve, dual VVT-i engine with CVT transmission. The HEV variant produces 91PS and a maximum torque of 121Nm, while the gasoline-fed engines put out 106PS and 138Nm of torque.
Based on Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA), the Yaris Cross uses the same platform as the all-new Wigo, the next-generation Vios, the Raize, Avanza, and Veloz. Braking power is courtesy of ventilated discs in front and solid discs at the rear, and ground clearance is pegged at 260 mm. Both the S HEV CVT and V CVT trims sit on 18-inch, machine-cut alloy wheels, while the G CVT gets 18s.

In terms of safety, both the S HEV and V CVT variants are equipped with the Toyota Safety Sense suite, which includes a pre-collision system, automatic high beam, lane departure alert, lane tracing assist, and adaptive cruise control. Not to be left behind, the base variant G CVT is equipped with electronic brake distribution, an anti-lock brake system, vehicle stability control, and hill-start assist control.
The all-new Yaris Cross is available in three variants:
- 1.5 S HEV CVT – Php 1,598,000 (+Php 10,000 for the black top option)
- 1.5 V CVT – starts at Php 1,296,000
- 1.5 G CVT – Php 1,199,000
Depending on the variant, available colors include platinum white pearl mica, attitude black mica, scarlet SE, and dark turquoise SE. A classy greenish gunmetal colorway is also available on an indent-order basis.
