Looking for a place for a mid-week chill? Need a place to wait out the Metro’s horrendous traffic before continuing north- or southward? Greenfield District’s got something for you.
Born from a vision of providing a high-end, almost weekend respite for those who want a break from the daily grind, the people behind Greenfield District started hosting Jazz Fest Thursdays exactly six months ago — in March 2017. The event slowly got to be known for providing an easy escape from the city’s hustle and bustle with its great food selections and live jazz tunes.
“Our goal at the beginning was to create an event in an elegant setting where friends, families, and music lovers can meet to enjoy live jazz performances and great food. I’m glad that we were able to fulfill that vision and remain consistent to it. So many enthusiasts come here to celebrate the beauty of jazz music in an open space filled with excellent food choices,” said Executive Vice President and General Manager of Greenfield Development Corporation, Atty. Duane A.X. Santos.
“Admittedly, it’s a niche market. It’s more upscale than your usual food parks. The crowd is also generally older, because we also cater to those who live in the condos nearby who can just walk to the venue,” said Michael Andan, Greenfield’s AVP and Head of Corporate Planning and Business Development. “We wanted a place where people can enjoy their food and the music, while still being able to converse with their companions,” he added.
So no, it’s for everyone. The music may not be familiar. Their concessionaires aren’t the usual value meal vendors you find at food parks. And, you can’t buy beer by the bucket either. But what you do get is a cozy outdoor space to enjoy with friends and family that isn’t too loud, smoky, or overcrowded. Though there aren’t that many vendors, there’s a well-curated selection of finger foods and desserts to choose from to sate your cravings. Fancy a drink? The bar is stocked with premium ales, liquor, and other drinks, and literally across the park are stalls offering third wave-esque brews for those who need their caffeine fix. The music is relaxing and will definitely be a great bed for the priceless conversations you will have while imbibing the laid-back ambiance.
