On a recent trip to the north Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. to test drive the capabilities of the all-new Brio, participants were treated to a sneak peek of the new Honda Civic. Short but sweet, the activity highlighted the new Civic’s refreshed styling, power, and agility through a guided route at Clark Freeport Zone in Pampanga.
Everyone was given a chance to get behind the wheel through a guided test drive around Clark, to experience the new Civic’s power and agility thanks to its 1.5L i-VTEC Turbo Engine that pushes 170HP and 230Nm of torque and 139HP and 174Nm of torque for the 1.8L i-VTEC Engine. Both engines were paired with an Earth Dreams Technology Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT) that provides power at the driver’s demand.
The Civic has always been popular in its segment, and its newest refresh lives us to its name with its comfortable ride and sophisticated interior. The high center console, leather seats, refreshed leather interior trims, and new sport pedals add to the Civic’s sports car vibe.
Also updated in the new Civic is its 7-inch Touch Screen Advanced Display Audio System with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto capability. RS Turbo variants also get an independent navigation system in the package. The newly integrated hard buttons and volume knob found in both the RS Turbo CVT and 1.8 E CVT variants allows for easy access to the entertainment and air conditioning systems. The top tier RS Turbo CVT’ is also equipped with an 8-way power adjustable driver seat that enabling seat adjustment with just one touch.
New to the Civic RS Turbo is its newly designed Front Bumper and 18-inch Belrina Black RS Alloy Wheels and new 16-inch Shark Gray Metallic Alloy Wheels for the 1.8 E CVT.
An exciting development for the Civic lineup is the addition of a new more affordable variant, the 1.8 S CVT. Although we weren’t able to drive it, it promises the best value for money proposition in the C-Segment Category. The New Civic 1.8 S CVT sports a new Halogen Projector Headlights with Integrated Daytime Running Lights, 16-inch Two Tone Alloy Wheels, and a 7-inch Touch Screen Display Audio system, that still brings the sporty DNA of the Civic. The New Civic 1.8 S CVT variant will be hitting the dealerships this June.
Always being on the cutting edge when it comes to safety features, Honda is proud of the new Civic’s 5-Star ASEAN NCAP safety rating. Aside from its Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), the RS Turbo CVT is packed with additional safety features such as Front Driver and Passenger Side Airbags and Side Curtain Airbags for added protection for the passengers
