The last race of the Petron Makabayan Endurance Series took place at the Clark International Speedway last weekend, Nov 27-28, 2021. Dubbed as the Bonifacio Cup after national hero Andres Bonifacio, it was an 8-hour endurance race challenge that started at 8 in the morning and finished at 4 in the afternoon.
It was one of the most action-packed races of the year as the teams battled for positions up and down the field for the duration of the race. There were a lot of mishaps and mechanical issues for most of the teams that ended their hopes for a podium finish, but in endurance racing, the minimum goal is to cross the checkered flag at the end. It is a team sport where a balance between speed and fuel economy must be struck in order to claim victory.
Cheers to all those who were brave enough to participate, commiserations to those who fell into car troubles, and congratulations to all the teams that made it to the finish line.
