The 2017 Ferrari Challenge Asia-Pacific will be returning to Singapore in September in support of the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix. Around 30 drivers representing Singapore, Japan, China, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Australia, Thailand, South Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia, the United States, Canada, France, and Italy shall be traversing the Marina Bay Street Circuit, which is noted to be one of the most physically challenging on the current F1 calendar. They will be getting behind the wheel of the new 488 Challenge for two adrenalin-filled races around the 5.065 km unique track located near the harbourside.
The races will surely provide overwhelming excitement and adrenaline to the packed weekend as fans from around the world witness some of the best racing action from Maranello. Adding to the atmosphere is the possibility that 2017 will be the last chance for Ferrari Challenge drivers to race on the Marina Bay street circuit. In addition, we are delighted to announce that Ferrari will contribute on this occasion to the President’s Challenge, Singapore’s official and most important Charity organization.
The 488 Challenge is the sixth model to participate in the one-make series which, in 2017, celebrates its 25th anniversary since the series’ debut in 1992. It is the first-ever turbocharged model to race and is the most powerful Challenge car ever, powered by the 670 cv 3.9-litre V8 derived from the series production engine that took the overall 2016 International Engine of the Year Award.
Thanks to the extensive development of the car’s engine, aerodynamics, and chassis, the 488 Challenge reaches new levels of performance, achieving a new record of 1’15.5” of the Fiorano track with a Ferrari Challenge car.
