Honda Philippines will be launching on August 8 a new Honda CR-V model featuring seven seats, a nine-speed shifter and a diesel engine.
The highlights for the new Honda CR-V are the following:
The diesel engine is a Honda i-DTEC 1.6 liter turbo diesel with 158hp and 258 ft-lbs of torque. It is equipped with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Also available is Honda’s 2.4-liter gasoline inline-four, with i-VTEC with 170 hp and 165 ft-lbs of torque and this is packaged with a CVT transmission.
Seven seats with the expected third row to have proper seats with equipped with seatbelts, and its own aircon vents. Even then, the rear seats may still be best for kids and short rides as this is not a full sized SUV.
No more shifter to help reduce interior cabin “clutter”. Shifting gears is now done by buttons on the center instrument panel. Will buyers of the CR-V love it or hate it? We will find out soon.
Powered tail-gate that gives hands-free opening and closing of the rear hatch either through remote or at the press of a button. It might not sound much but it is a nice to have convenience feature.
