Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI), has finally launched the much-awaited all-new 10th-generation Honda Accord.
First introduced in 1976, the Accord is Honda’s second-longest-running nameplate in its global lineup. Accordingly, pun intended, it is also one of Honda’s best selling models with 22.8 million units sold (as of July 2019) since launch.
“Through the years, the Accord has become a household nameplate for Filipino customers looking for a Japanese midsize sedan. With its commanding road presence and luxurious comfort and build quality, the Accord has always been synonymous with luxury, prestige, and success in the Philippines. Today, as we launch its 10th generation, we are elevating the Honda Accord to new heights. Packaged in captivating design, pioneering technologies, and advanced features, the Honda Accord is meant to be a class above the rest,” said HCPI president and general manager Noriyuki Takakura.

EXTERIOR
The all-new Accord is built on a new platform and has a clean yet elegant overall exterior profile with its wider stance, lower roofline, and a dramatically longer and lower hood. Upfront, Honda’s signature chrome wing grille and streamlined wing-shaped full-LED headlights with auto-leveling and high beam features highlight the bold fascia. Combined with a chiseled hood and LED fog lights, the all-new Accord has a very distinctive and aggressive look.
From the side, the Accord’s lower roofline and sharp upswept bodylines create a stylish yet dynamic appeal with its strong wheel arches and concave door panels further emphasizing its character lines. Completing the look are 18-inch noise-reducing alloy wheels.
At the back, the brightly trimmed rear fascia is as athletic and energetically designed as the front end, with a slightly longer overhang. The C-shaped design of the LED taillights complements the design of the front LED DRLs and contributes to a distinct Accord appearance that is easy to spot on the road.
To further give the all-new Accord a sleek outlook, Honda adopted a laser brazing welding process for joining the roof and the side panels that results in a cleaner exterior appearance with no need for a garnish over the rain channels.
INTERIOR
The interior of the all-new Accord is fitted with premium and soft-to-the-touch materials with the tasteful application of leather, wood, and metal accents. It also comes with the niceties found in the previous models such as the rear window sunshades, folding armrests, a 12V accessory socket, and other features that make multi-tasking while traveling more comfortable.
The all-new Accord’s wider body and longer wheelbase allow for bigger cabin space, adding 48mm of legroom for the rear passengers. Cargo capacity has also increased by 123 liters, giving the new model a total of 573 liters of trunk space.

ADVANCED FEATURES
Intending to enhance mobility by integrating Honda’s latest advanced technologies, the all-new Accord has an array of features comparable to those found in vehicles from a class higher. These features not only elevate the all-new Accord in terms of technological offerings but also up the ante on driver and passenger convenience.
The Accord’s instrument panel is a 7-inch TFT screen that can display a wide range of information including the speedometer on the right side of the panel. The head unit is a new 8-inch Display Audio system — one of the most advanced systems offered by Honda to date. The touchscreen gives you access to the vehicle’s audio system, display settings, Honda SENSING functions, and other advanced features through swipe, tap and pinch gestures. The intuitive and easy-to-use system has a simplified menu structure and customizable shortcuts for commonly used features and applications. This system also comes with navigation and supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for seamless smartphone connectivity.
Other advanced convenience features of the all-new Accord are Smart Key with Push Button Start and Remote Engine Start, Walk Away Auto Lock and Speed Sensing Door Lock functionality, Electric Parking Brake with Auto Brake Hold, and Auto-Dimming Rear View Mirror.
HONDA SENSING AND SAFETY
Honda SENSING is now standard in the all-new Accord. Honda SENSING is the brand’s suite of advanced safety and driver-assist features that aid the driver to prevent or effectively respond to dangerous driving situations. The suite includes Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low Speed Follow (LSF), Lane Keeping Assist (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM), and Auto High Beam.
Other safety features include six (6) airbags, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Emergency Stop Signal, Front & Rear parking sensors, Multiview Reverse Camera w/ Guidelines, LaneWatch Camera, and Straight Driving Assist come in standard with the all-new Accord.
POWERTRAIN
The all-new Accord is powered by a new 1.5-liter VTEC Turbo engine developed under Earth Dreams Technology. This new engine produces a maximum power output of 187HP at 5,500 rpm and 243Nm of torque from 1,500 – 5,500 rpm. With its higher horsepower and torque output, the all-new Accord is at par if not more powerful compared its 2.4-liter naturally aspirated predecessor. The new engine is mated with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) developed based on Honda’s Earth Dreams Technology. Sport mode is now available to enhance the all-new Accord’s throttle and steering response, and the CVT’s paddle shifters give the driver greater control over the transmission operation and power delivery. Honda’s Eco Assist System, which consists of the ECON mode and Eco-Coaching Ambient Light, is also still available in this model.
PRICING AND AVAILABILITY
The 2019 all-new Accord is available in one only one variant – EL Turbo CVT Honda SENSING – and carries a suggested retail price of Php 2,288,000. Available colors include Platinum White Pearl, Crystal Black, and Modern Steel Metallic.
