SMC Asia Car Distributors Corp., the official importer, and distributor of BMW in the Philippines, recently announced the arrival of the new BMW 7 Series. The refreshed luxury sedan is the brand’s flagship automobile and is its showcase of luxury and technology. As of launch, BMW PH had already sold its entire initial inventory of the 7 Series. BMW Philippines President Spencer Yu also revealed that the units that are scheduled to arrive in September are also already spoken for. Without the units even having reached our shores yet, the distributor had already met their COVID-adjusted forecasts for their flagship model.
Power
The BMW 730i Pure Excellence is powered by a 2.0-liter BMW TwinPower four-cylinder gasoline engine that promises 265 hp and 400 Nm of torque. Alternately, the new BMW 745Le Pure Excellence – BMW’s first-ever Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) in the Philippines, has a 3.0-liter BMW TwinPower six-cylinder gasoline paired with an electric motor. The BMW 745Le is capable of up to 55 kilometers of electric range in ideal conditions and offers a combined performance figure of 394 horsepower and 600 Nm of torque.

Exterior
The refreshed 7s are 23mm longer than its predecessors. The BMW 745Le Pure Excellence is even longer, being offered in long wheelbase and having an extra 140 millimeters on the BMW 730i Pure Excellence variant.
At first glance, those in the know will notice the new bonnet has more sharply cut contour lines and a larger BMW roundel. The larger BMW kidney grille is also paired with the slimmer Adaptive LED Headlights. BMW 730i Pure Excellence sits on 18-inch light-alloy wheels in Multi-spoke style 619, while the BMW 745Le Pure Excellence has 19-inch light-alloy wheels in Double-spoke style 630 Bicolor. Both variants feature runflat tires.

Interior
Inside the cabin, the new BMW 730i Pure Excellence received many new interior touches like leather “Dakota” upholstery together with a fine-wood trim. It also comes with electronic seats, and a Harman Kardon Surround Sound system to elevate the cabin experience. Alternately, Nappa leather with extended quilting is standard on the BMW 745Le Pure Excellence. The PHEV variant also benefits from active seat ventilation for the front and rear, as well as a massage function for all passenger seating. It is also equipped with a Rear Seat Entertainment Experience that offers 10-inch, full HD touchscreens with a centrally located tablet, further enhanced by a Harman Kardon Surround Sound system.
Technology
The new BMW 7 Series comes equipped with the latest hardware and BMW Operating System 7.0 software. Its iDrive controller and touchscreen comprise the BMW Live Cockpit Professional that includes the navigation and multimedia system, a digital, 12.3-inch high-resolution instrument panel, and a 10.25-inch Control Display. Apple CarPlay is standard, while BMW Gesture Control is available in the BMW 745Le Pure Excellence. The Central Information Display also offers guidance when using BMW’s innovative Parking Assistant that assists in both parallel or perpendicular, as well as automatic maneuvering out of parallel parking spaces. Park Distance Control also comes as standard, offering front and rear parking sensors, paired with a rearview camera system and a surround-view on the BMW 745Le.

Pricing and availability
The new BMW 730i Pure Excellence is priced at Php 5,990,000 and is available in the Arctic Grey, Black Sapphire, Imperial Blue, Mineral White, and Sophisto Grey.
The new BMW 745Le Pure Excellence is priced at Php 9,590,000 and is offered in Black Sapphire, Mineral White, and Sophisto Grey. Every purchase of the 745Le comes with two chargers – one 30-watt “slow” charger ideal for home installation and another faster one charger as an alternate. Additional chargers are available at around Php 100,000 each.
As with all new BMWs, the new BMW 7 Series comes with a 5-year or 200,000-kilometer manufacturer’s warranty – a new standard in the premium automotive segment in the Philippines.
