Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc. (HMPH) made its debut at the 18th Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) by previewing the much-awaited IONIQ 6 and sharing its long-term mission and plans on redefining mobility in the country.
“The IONIQ sub-brand was developed to bring about and encourage a sustainable lifestyle through an elevated eco-friendly experience. It was designed to support, if not jumpstart, our customer’s journey to go green. Our flagship model, the IONIQ 5, became a validation that we are on the right track. It has garnered numerous recognitions, paving the way for our newest mid-size electric sedan. The IONIQ 6 also has just become a triple-crown winner during the recently concluded 2023 World Car of The Year Awards which made us even more excited to give visitors a chance to see it physically at the Manila International Auto Show,” said Dongwook Lee, President of HMPH.
Following the footsteps of its predecessor, the IONIQ 6 was recently awarded 2023 World Car Design of The Year, 2023 World Electric Vehicle of the Year, and the much coveted 2023 World Car of The Year.
Built on the brand’s trademark Electric-Global Modular Platform or E-GMP, the IONIQ 6 has better stability and handling and added safety. Equipped as well with the brand’s proprietary driver-assistance system including Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control (NSCC), Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA 2), Remote Smart Parking Assist 2 (RSPA 2), among others. Charging-wise, it also supports both 400V and 800V which boosts battery life from 10% to 80% in just under 18 minutes.
The IONIQ 6 is tuned with a top speed of 185 kilometers per hour and powerful acceleration that reaches up to 100 kilometers per hour in 5.1 seconds. It boasts an all-electric range of 545 kilometers made possible by its upgraded battery capacity and a more aerodynamic design which is optimized to minimize air resistance and drag for an EV performance like no other.
The IONIQ 6 is scheduled to be launched by mid-2023 with prices pegged at about Php 4,000,000. The IONIQ 5 is currently available and retails for Php 3,068,000 for the 2WD Standard Range, and Php 3,698,000 for the 2WD Long Range.
