Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) recently participated in the 10th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit held at the SMX Convention Center – Manila from October 20-21, 2022. MMPC showcased the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV – The world’s first plug-in hybrid electric SUV.
Since the introduction of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, it has sold over 260,000 units across Europe, North America, Japan, and Australia. With its all-electric operation for everyday use and mainly motor-powered hybrid operation for a longer journey, the Outlander PHEV aims to promote greener energy alternatives and self-sustainability for better care of our environment.
The Outlander PHEV is the result of Mitsubishi’s long-time development of electrification technology, 4WD expertise, and Super All-Wheel Control or S-AWC technology. The vehicle offers energy efficiency and a smooth driving experience by utilizing a twin-motor 4WD system and a unique PHEV architecture.
Along with the Outlander PHEV, MMPC is also featuring the Dendo Drive House or DDH, a smart-home system featuring the Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) energy ecosystem. With the Outlander PHEV, a bi-directional charger, solar panels and an electric storage facility designed for home use, installing this system allows the homeowners to charge their EV or PHEV vehicle using solar-generated power. This technology not only helps save on electricity costs but also acts as a backup power generator during power interruptions or other emergencies.
Since the DDH features a Vehicle-To-Home (V2H) energy ecosystem, aside from charging the vehicles, it can also supply electricity back to the home. On the daily, this lessens dependency on the grid to be able to run appliances, while during blackouts, serves as a backup generator.
Aside from significant benefits related to solar energy like cost savings on fuel and lowered carbon footprint, the DDH becomes a reliable source of electricity in case of power outages and other emergencies. The Philippines, being one of the world’s most disaster-prone countries, can greatly benefit from both the DDH technology and the Outlander PHEV’s external power-feeding function can directly support calamity-affected communities.
