The new MINIs are out

MINI Asia and British United Automobiles recently announced that the new MINI 3-Door, the new MINI 5-Door, and the new MINI Cabrio convertible are now available in the Philippine market.

The new models from the British premium automobile manufacturer exude the same progressive character and style that is distinctively MINI while sporting fresh design elements and technological advancements that deliver a more compelling driving experience. The new MINI 3-Door, MINI 5-Door, and MINI Cabrio all feature new transmission configurations, newly-designed LED headlights and taillights, additional body finishes, a well as cutting-edge infotainment connectivity with your personal devices.

Bright and Dazzle-Free LED Headlights.

The characteristic circular headlights of the MINI is even more distinct and expressive in the new MINI 3-Door, 5-Door, and the new MINI Cabrio models. The latest generation of LED modules and a redesigned power source offers increased brightness and visibility, while the LED daytime driving lights and turn indicator lights now form a complete and distinct halo around the entire contour of the headlights.

Union Jack Tail Lights. Very British.

The rear lights of the new models now feature a fully-LED Union Jack design — proudly showing the brand‘s British origins. The striking flag motif is recreated in the structure of the light functions itself; the horizontal lines of the Union Jack pattern function as turn indicators, while the brake lights are built into the vertical lines, and the tail light additionally representing the diagonal lines of the British flag.

New MINI logo: Reduced to the Essentials.

The new MINI logo reflects the brand’s focus on the essentials: driving fun, distinctive design, premium quality and emotional appeal. The new MINI logo is clear and authentic in style — a reinterpretation of the existing logo, but in a two-dimensional “flat” design. It is distinctly displayed on the bonnet, tailgate, steering wheel, central instrument display and remote control in all models.

New Color Options and Alloy Wheel Designs.

The new MINI 3-Door, MINI 5-Door, and MINI Cabrio now come in 14 available colors, including three new colors: Emerald Grey Metallic; Starlight Blue Metallic; and Solaris Orange Metallic. The selection of light alloy wheels has also been expanded — the 2-tone Propeller-Spoke 17-inch light alloy wheel design is now available for the Cooper, while the 2-tone Rail Spoke 17-inch light alloy wheels design is available for the Cooper S.

Interior Cabin: More Personalization Options.

A broad selection of seat finishes, interior cabin surfaces, and color lines allows for greater personalization to the interior of the new MINI models. Malt Brown color lines and Chester leather trim in Malt Brown is now available for the MINI 3-Door.

Additionally, the MINI Yours Interior Style Piano Black option is now available with illumination. Interior doors panels and center console panels finished in Piano Black, including a backlit Piano Black decorative strip with a stylized Union Jack motif for the instrument panel on the passenger side. The color of the background lighting for the decorative strip matches the mood of the ambient lighting selected by the driver as part of the MINI Excitement Package.

New Steering Wheel with Multi-function Buttons

The three-spoke steering wheel design in the new MINI 3-Door, MINI 5-Door, and the new MINI Cabrio all come with built-in multifunction buttons. The left-hand panel houses the Speed Limiter settings, while the right-hand panel sports audio and communication controls. The new MINI steering wheel comes in three finish options: the standard sports leather steering wheel, a MINI Yours sports leather steering wheel, and a John Cooper Works leather steering wheel.

6.5-inch Radio and Color Touchscreen

The standard trim for the new MINI models includes an audio system with a 6.5-inch color screen in the central instrument panel with mobile phone integration via Bluetooth. The touchscreen Control Display offers better convenience in accessing the radio, information, and communication functions of the infotainment unit, along with the optional Radio MINI Visual Boost and built-in navigation system.

The optional MINI Excitement Package now also includes the MINI logo projection on the driver‘s side. When the vehicle is opened and closed, the new MINI logo is projected onto the ground in front of the door from a light source in the exterior mirror and can be seen there for 20 seconds, or permanently if the door is left open.

Drive. More Fun and Better Fuel Efficiency.

The improved engine design with the new MINI 3-Door, MINI-5 Door, and the new MINI Cabrio deliver more pep and fun to your driving experience. Improvements were also made throughout the entire power and drivetrain system, including the MINI TwinPower Turbo Technology, engine electronics, oil supply, intake air ducting, cooling systems, and exhaust systems. Additionally, all new MINI petrol engines feature petrol direct injection with maximum pressure increased from 200 to 350 bar and turbocharger blades made of highly heat-resilient material.

The new models also come fitted with carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) engine covers – made from carbon fiber recyclates generated from the production of BMWi automobiles – provide further overall weight reduction to the units. The new engine design also improves fuel efficiency and reduces CO2 emissions by as much as five percent, making the new MINI ably compliant with any rigorous emission standards out there.

New 7-speed Steptronic Transmission with Double Clutch.

A 7-speed Steptronic transmission with a double clutch is optionally available for the MINI Cooper and MINI Cooper S models. The new transmission type features very fast gear shifts, operating on a newly-designed electronic gear selector lever to produce extremely sporty acceleration maneuvers without interrupting torque. A 7-speed Steptronic sports transmission with double clutch is also available for the MINI Cooper S, which also includes paddle shifters on the steering wheel.

All Steptronic transmissions on the new MINI models feature a Coasting function in MID and GREEN modes, as well as the latest generation of the automatic engine-start/stop function, which now integrates navigation and front-facing camera detection technologies. The new detection system allows for situations to be identified wherein it is better to keep the engine running than simply switching it off on a full stop, like when stopping briefly before making a turn or entering a roundabout, or if the traffic ahead has started moving again.

The new MINI 3 Door, the new MINI 5 Door, and the new MINI Cabrio are now available at the Mini Global City showroom.
