Keep these in mind when working with stories and articles, as Categories and Tags determine where and how your story appears on the website.

Article Manager

article manager

The Article Manager shows the list of stories or articles that are available to your account.  Click on Content > Articles to go to the Article Manager..

To open the Article Manager, click on Content > Articles on the Administrator Portal.  This will show the list of stories or articles available to your account, as well as additional menu buttons for content creation and publishing control.

To create a new story, click on the   New button.  To edit an existing article, you can click on the Article Title in the list, or click on the checkbox corresponding to the article you want to work with, then click   Edit.  Any of these steps will bring up the Article Editor.

If you have a standard Writer/Contributor account, you can only open/work on articles authored by you — or those assigned to your account by a publisher.  If have Editor privileges, you have access to the   Publish and   Unpublish menu buttons to control whether or not a story appears on the public website.

The Article Manager also has Search and Filter functionalities to help you find particular articles you want to work with.  The Search box will limit the list to articles whose titles contain the supplied text, whereas the Filter options allow you to limit the list of articles by Publication Status, Categories, or Keyword Tags.

Article Editor

The Article Editor has everything you need to create a story for the website.  It contains a WYSIWYG (what-you-see-is-what-you-get) Editor with some available formatting options, article information, and article organization information, Here’s a run-down of the elements you’ll see on the Article Editor page:

1. Article Record Controls

The buttons near the top of the page let you create and save article records to the website database.
Save — saves the current/existing work.
Save & Close — saves the current/existing work, and brings you back to the Article Manager.
Save & New — saves the current/existing work, and loads a blank/empty Article Manager page.
Save as Copy — saves the current/existing work as a new Article record (NOTE: a new article alias will be created to differentiate the new record from the old one.)
Close. — closes the Article Manager without saving the current/existing work, and brings you back to the Article Manager.

2. Article Title

A Title and an Alias are required for any story or article in the website.  You can enter these in the provided fields, located just below the Article Record Controls.

An Alias is the unique web page identifier for your article in the website.  You may leave this blank/empty, and the website will automatically generate an Alias for your article based on the provided title.  For example, an article with title: “My Story” would have the alias “my-story”, and its web page URL would be something like www.ignition.ph/stories/my-story.

3. Article Information Tabs

Data of your story/article are grouped and presented in several information tabs.  Of particular note are:

  1. Content tab — contains the main WYSIWIG Editor for composing stories and articles.
  2. Images and Links tab — upload and set the article’s Cover Photo and cover photo caption here.
  3. Publishing tab — control the publication period (a begin publication date and an optional end of publication date) for an article, change or assign an author account, and set article page metadata in this tab.
NOTE: the website automatically generates article metadata information for SEO when the article page is loaded on the website.

4. WYSIWIG Editor

WYSIWYG stands for what-you-see-is-what-you-get.  The text

5. Article Organization

There are 2 main concepts in article organization in the ignition.ph website: Categories and Keyword Tags.  You can think of Categories as folders or directories on your computer, where stories and articles are the files stored inside those folders.  Tags, on the other hand, are key words that tie together related articles regardless of their physical category or folder location.  While an article can only be saved in one Category, it can be linked to a number of other stories and articles through Tags and Keywords.

There are six (6) main sections in the ignition.ph website: News, Features, Reviews, Motoring, Technology, and Lifestyle.  A story/article needs to be stored in one of these categories.

The article’s main Publication Control is also located in this section.  You can override the
